Leaving at 9am and returning by 4pm, you can relax on the decks of a boat as it makes its way through the mangrove swamps, stopping at the very best spots where you can enjoy a spot of fishing if you wish. We were lucky enough to meet Lam-Boy on our first day in Gambia, close to our hotel in Kotu, Deciding to choose him as our tour guide was one of the best decisions we made on this or any other holiday.

He is bright, knows all you need to know about excursions in Gambia and has an irrepressible sense of humour.

Lam-Boy always arrived promptly to take us on our trips. On our first time in this beautiful country, he took us on an amazing Lazy Day trip down the river by boat, where with a little bit of help from the crew we even managed to catch a few fish. And the food and drink on board was amazing.

He also knew the best nightspots and restaurants in the area, which came in handy – and took us to a fantastic reggae party on the beach,

We kept in touch after heading home and, a year later, we were back in the Gambia.

This time Lam-Boy took us as far as Senegal, to see white rhinos, zebra, giraffes and even warthogs in the wild, arranging all the travel details, including passes to get into the country.

We also enjoyed trips to meet the Holy Crocodiles and the beautiful Makasutu Park. And, of course, another Lazy Day on the river was a must.

We couldn't recommend him highly enough as a guide.
